Overview

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) requires commercial vehicles in Nigeria to be fitted with speed limiting devices. GPSFleet Tracking Services supplies and installs FRSC speed limiters for buses, trucks, tankers and other commercial vehicles, and supports operators through the certification process.

A speed limiter controls the vehicle so it cannot exceed a set maximum speed, which reduces the risk of serious crashes and helps protect drivers, passengers and other road users. Our technicians install the device, set the approved limit and test it on the vehicle before handing over.

For greater control, a speed limiter can be combined with vehicle tracking and our fleet management system, so you also receive overspeeding alerts and driver behaviour reports. We can handle single vehicles or whole fleets and also assist with certificate renewals. Installations can be scheduled at your depot or at our Lagos and Port Harcourt offices, and our staff will explain the requirements clearly before any work begins, so you know exactly what to expect from inspection to certification.

FAQ

FRSC Speed Limiters questions

Can’t find your answer? Ask our engineers.

The FRSC requirement applies to commercial vehicles, such as buses, trucks, tankers and other vehicles used for business or public transport. Requirements and enforcement can change, so we advise operators to confirm the current rules for their vehicle category. Contact us with details of your fleet and we will explain what applies to you.

Installation on a single vehicle usually takes a few hours, including setting the approved speed and testing. Larger fleets are scheduled in batches at your depot or yard so that vehicles can return to work quickly. The exact time depends on the vehicle make, model and condition, which we confirm during inspection.

Yes. After installation we provide guidance on the documentation needed for certification and support you through the process. We also help with certificate renewals and can remind you when they are due. If you already have a speed limiter installed, you can contact us for renewal support or a device check.

Yes. A speed limiter controls the maximum speed, while a GPS tracker records where and how the vehicle is driven. Used together, you get overspeeding alerts, trip history and driver behaviour reports in GPSFleetTrack Pro. This helps fleet managers confirm that limiters are working and that drivers are following company policy.
